What is Finalint?  Why are you here?  Why are WE here?  All questions that deserve answers, but I can only definitively answer the first one (at this time).

Hi, I’m Donnie Garvich and I created Finalint as my little nook on the web.  I’m a computer programmer turned web developer with over 16 years of experience in teaching computers how to better understand people.  I was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama and after traveling around quite a bit I decided Birmingham was where I wanted to do my life’s work.

I’ve worked for, with and around some of the biggest names in the United States in my career ranging from retail to medical to financial and everything in between.  It’s just code, the nouns change but the verbs stay the same.

I’ve touched just about every language and technology that has shaped the web since 1994 and it has been quite a ride.  I’m pretty technologically agnostic: I believe there’s a right tool for every job but not a right tool for every job.  For the moment I’m enjoying working with Microsoft’s .NET suite of solutions but that doesn’t stop me from indulging in open source solutions on a weekly basis.

In addition to working with computers I’ve written about computes, I’m a keyboardist with a band here in Birmingham called Pyrite Parachute and I’m a devoted husband and father of two.  Oh… and my dog thinks I’m pretty keen.
